Synopsis

The adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) models in daily work routines and as custom-developed business solutions introduces a number of unique threats which require specialised mitigations. These threats are not traditional cyber threats but are just as significant to the business. It will often fall to the Cyber Risk Officer to understand and report on these risks.

In this presentation, we take a look at the underlying technology used to develop and run AI models, and the range of AI models available to the business to use including those that have appeared on our task bar and browser ribbons. We look at the data used by AI models and learn about the threats to that data, and how to assess the risks resulting from them. We look at the process of building a model and the issues that can affect the integrity of the resulting model and how we should reflect these in our risk assessment. We then look at some of the many models that are available for any business to download and use, and learn about how we can scan them to check whether they present immediate risk to the business.

As we run through this presentation, we'll refer to the NIST AI Risk Management Framework and discuss the associated NIST AI Risk Playbook.
