Synopsis

Incidents claiming to be third party related have become an almost weekly occurrence recently. Businesses are facing the fear of the unknown from a threat vector they have limited control of - after all third parties are a necessity for efficient business but how much can you really trust their statements of operating securely?

What is the truth in the statements that all these incidents are really caused by third parties? What really happened, and could it have been prevented? There are many incidents that are third party related, and they can all look drastically different.

As an organisation now has many legal and regulatory requirements surrounding their security and data privacy, there are many questions and actions we need to be taking to protect our businesses and customers and ensuring compliance. Third-party risk has raised additional challenges to meet these.

During Chris and Grant’s presentation, they will outline some real-world examples of actual third party related incidents to help frame the actual threats faced by businesses. They will show where the root cause truly existed and where that relates to the business risk, and liability boundaries.

They will walk through some of the key risks faced by businesses related to the third party cyber incident examples provided. They will provide practical guidance and governance questions for executives and board members to take back to your business to help ensure you are prepared to face the active risks posed by threat actors through third parties.
