Synopsis

In today’s rapidly evolving global security landscape, the intersection of cyber security and public policy is more critical than ever. This presentation highlights the importance of pilot programs, implementation lessons learnt and the compelling journey of a participant in an innovative, work-integrated cyber security program and internship, demonstrating the real-world application of cyber security government policy initiatives into practice. From navigating life in Syria to working in cyber security in Canberra, this story underscores how the program equipped the participant with the skills to influence and drive change in the digital policy arena.

The session will explore the program’s hands-on approach to cyber security in a holistic hands on approach, showcasing tangible outcomes and practical applications. By focusing on this unique experience, the presentation illustrates how integrated learning initiatives can empower individuals to tackle pressing cyber security challenges and contribute meaningfully to national and international security policy.

Attendees, including business leaders, policymakers, cyber security professionals, and educators, will gain valuable insights into designing impactful public policy programs that merge theory with practice. This talk will highlight how such initiatives can strengthen organisational and governmental resilience in an increasingly interconnected and vulnerable world.
